The Dubai Fitness Challenge 2026 runs from Saturday 31 October to Sunday 29 November. You do 30 minutes of activity a day for 30 days. Most people plan the workouts and leave the food to chance. This guide covers the food, so your 30 minutes a day actually show up in how you feel and train by the end of November.
What the Dubai Fitness Challenge 2026 is
The Dubai Fitness Challenge is the city's yearly month of moving more, and 2026 is its 10th edition. This year's theme is "What's Your 30x30?", which asks you to do 30 minutes of physical activity every day for 30 days.
You choose the activity. Yoga, walking, running, padel, basketball, football and volleyball are all on the programme, so a brisk walk on the beach counts.
Registration is free on the official site, dubaifitnesschallenge.com. The 2026 programme also has three free Fitness Villages, more than 23 Community Fitness Hubs and thousands of free classes across the city, so you can do all 30 days without paying for a gym.
For a sense of scale, the WHO's global recommendation for adults is at least 150 minutes of moderate activity a week. Thirty minutes every day takes you past that. The more you move, the more calories you use, so what you eat starts to matter more.
The key dates for 2026
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| Saturday 31 October | The challenge starts |
| Sunday 1 November | Dubai Ride |
| Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November | Dubai Stand-Up Paddle at Hatta Dam |
| Sunday 22 November | Dubai Run, along Sheikh Zayed Road and through Downtown Dubai |
| Sunday 29 November | Dubai Yoga, and the last day of the challenge |
These dates come from the organisers' announcement, as reported by Gulf News and Gulf Business in early October 2026. Event details can change, so check the official site before you plan your week around them. Sanos is a Dubai kitchen and has no link to the organisers.
On event days, keep your food boring. Eat a normal dinner the night before and have a breakfast you already know sits well before exercise. Race morning is the wrong time to try a new shake.
How much to eat when you start moving every day
It depends on your goal. What changes in November is that 30 minutes of activity a day burns energy on top of your normal day. Our TDEE calculator estimates what you burn, so you can set your number instead of guessing.
- To lose weight, eat a bit less than you burn. NHS Better Health suggests cutting around 600 calories a day as a safe and sustainable way to lose weight. Your training already burns extra, so don't cut food harder on top. Our calorie deficit guide shows how.
- To keep your weight, eat about what you burn. On days with a long ride or run, that means a little more food.
- To build muscle, eat a little more than you burn and get protein at every meal.
Keep one floor in mind. Harvard Health advises not eating below 1,200 calories a day for women or 1,500 for men unless a health professional is supervising you. You need fuel to show up 30 days in a row.
What to eat before and after a workout
The short version is carbs before, protein and carbs after, and water throughout.
| When | What to aim for | Examples from the Sanos menu |
|---|---|---|
| 3 to 4 hours before | A normal, balanced meal | Chicken Fajitas, Grilled Salmon |
| 1 to 2 hours before | A small snack, mostly carbs | Loaded Oatmeal, or a piece of fruit |
| During | Water | Nothing to eat for a 30-minute session |
| Soon after | Protein plus carbs | Thai Monster Bowl, The Sexy Bowl, Hulk Shake |
Before. Victoria State Government guidance says to eat a larger meal 3 to 4 hours before exercise, or a snack 1 to 2 hours before, so your food has time to digest. Carbs are your main fuel, so go for fruit, bread, oats or rice. The Loaded Oatmeal (oats, banana, berries, flax and chia seeds, skimmed milk) fits well. If you train early before the office, keep it small, like a banana.
After. Have protein with some carbs soon after your session. The International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN) says high-quality protein eaten up to two hours after training gives a strong boost to muscle building, and Victoria's guidance adds that this helps even after a walk. On a plate, that is a hand-sized piece of chicken or fish with rice or potato. The Thai Monster Bowl (chicken breast, Angus beef tenderloin, broccoli, asparagus, basmati rice, peanuts, spicy Thai sauce) covers both. If you can't sit down to eat, a Hulk Shake (coconut water, vanilla whey, spinach, dates, almond butter, banana) works on the drive home.
Eating for a goal during the challenge: lose, keep or gain
Pick your goal first, then eat for it.
Lose weight
Keep a small daily deficit, protein at every meal and half your plate as vegetables. A safe pace is 0.5 to 1 kg a week, according to the NHS. The Sanos Weight Loss Meal Plan is built on lean protein, fibre-rich vegetables and low-GI carbs in controlled portions, so you don't have to weigh anything yourself.
Keep your weight
Eat about what you burn and keep protein steady across the day. The Weight Maintenance Meal Plan is calorie-controlled and fibre-rich, with moderate carbs and low fat, so you can train every day while your weight holds.
Build muscle
Eat a little more than you burn and spread your protein out. The ISSN says 1.4 to 2.0 g of protein per kg of body weight a day is enough for most people who exercise, ideally in servings of 20 to 40 g every 3 to 4 hours. For a 75 kg person, that is about 105 to 150 g a day. The Muscle Gain Meal Plan is built on high-quality protein, complex carbs and healthy fats. For more ideas, read our high-protein meals guide.
A 7-day lock in season week
We call these 30 days LOCK IN SEASON. You decide what you eat once, then stop thinking about it and put the energy into training. Here is one week built from dishes on the Sanos menu. Use it as a template if you cook, or as a shortlist when you order.
| Day | Breakfast | Lunch | Dinner | Snack |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Avocado with Poached Egg | Thai Monster Bowl | Grilled Salmon | Green Beast shake |
| 2 | Loaded Oatmeal | Kale Salad | Grilled Chicken | Hulk Shake |
| 3 | Fresh Herbs Omelette | The Sexy Bowl | Grilled Tenderloin | Steamed Edamame |
| 4 | Shakshuka | Berry Lovers Salad | Chicken Fajitas | Green Beast shake |
| 5 | Avocado with Poached Egg | Steak Mixed Salad | Omega 3 | Hulk Shake |
| 6 | Loaded Oatmeal | Mexican Chicken Quinoa | Grilled Sea Bass | Fruit Platter |
| 7 | Fresh Herbs Omelette | Chef Chicken Bowl | Grilled Chicken | Steamed Edamame |
Here is why this week works.
- Every breakfast, lunch and dinner has a protein, from eggs, chicken, beef and fish to the edamame in the Kale Salad.
- Lunch and dinner always come with vegetables, such as broccoli, asparagus, kale, spinach and zucchini.
- Carbs come mostly from oats, bread, rice, quinoa and potato, which fuel your training.
- The shakes double as an after-training snack on days you train late.
If you cook, copy the shape of each plate. If you would rather not, build your plan and we send your price on WhatsApp.
Water and heat: staying hydrated in Dubai in November
November is cooler than summer, but training outdoors in Dubai still makes you sweat. Plan your water the way you plan your meals.
- Start with 6 to 8 cups or glasses of fluid a day, and drink more when you are in a hot place or active for a long time (NHS).
- Drink enough that your pee is pale. Thirst, dark yellow strong-smelling pee, dizziness and tiredness are signs of dehydration (NHS).
- For a 30-minute session, water is all you need. Victoria's guidance says sports drinks mainly help elite athletes who lose lots of water and electrolytes.
- Keep fruit juice to one small glass (150 ml) a day, with a meal (NHS).
- Tea and coffee count toward your fluids too. Carry a bottle to the Fitness Village and refill it.
This guide is general information, not medical advice. If you are pregnant, have a medical condition or take medication, check with your doctor before you change how you eat or train.
Lock in your food for the 30 days
You have the dates and the plan. If you want the food handled, pick the Sanos plan for your goal, then choose your meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks), your days (weekdays, weekdays plus Saturday, or the full week) and 1 to 8 weeks. A 4-week plan covers almost the whole challenge. Build your plan, send it on WhatsApp, and we reply with your price.
Every meal is cooked by our own chefs at 228 Jumeirah Street, Jumeirah 1, and delivered anywhere in Dubai. If you're not sure which plan fits you, book a free nutrition consultation.
FAQ
Is the Dubai Fitness Challenge free?
Yes, registration is free on the official site. The 2026 programme includes three free Fitness Villages, more than 23 Community Fitness Hubs and thousands of free classes across Dubai. Flagship events such as Dubai Run have their own registration on the official site.
What is Dubai 30x30?
It is the idea behind the challenge. You do 30 minutes of physical activity every day for 30 days, from 31 October to 29 November 2026. The 2026 theme, "What's Your 30x30?", asks you to pick activities that fit your routine.
When is Dubai Run 2026?
Dubai Run is on Sunday 22 November 2026, along Sheikh Zayed Road and through Downtown Dubai. Dubai Ride is on Sunday 1 November. Check the official site for start times and registration.
Can I lose weight during the Dubai Fitness Challenge?
Yes, if you eat a little less than you burn. At the safe pace the NHS suggests, 0.5 to 1 kg a week, that adds up to about 2 to 4 kg over 30 days. Treat that as an upper limit, not a target. Our 7-day weight loss meal plan gives you a full week of meals to start with.
Do I need protein shakes?
No. Victoria State Government guidance says a shake is just an easy way to get protein, and a boiled egg on toast or a tin of tuna does the same job. A shake helps on days you train late.
